Today at work, my boss forwarded me this invitation to this "Women for Hillary Celebration." She RSVP'ed and told us we were welcomed to go...but that she probably cant make it... so i called the other intern, Danielle, who was off today...and asked her if she'd like to accompany me lol...My boss, Clare, said that she would pay for our cab ride if we went so we thought WHY NOT?!?
lol. I met Danielle outside the Foggy Bottom Metro Station, and we caught a cab right before it started raining. The party was hosted by former Ambassador to Portugal, Elizabeth Bagley, at her house in Georgetown. Thank god i was wearing a dress that day to work, otherwise, i would have looked ridiculous at the gathering. So Danielle and i walk in, not knowing what to expect. We are greeted by a doorman who asks us kindly to write our names on little Name Tags. (We also thought it would be wise to write our organization's name on it, so people would think we were invited) We walked into this woman's living room and it was beautiful...she has amazing paintings on the walls and everyhting was decorated in an old fashioned Victorian-esque manner. We stood in a corner for a while, munching on Hors D'oeuvres. We felt kind of out of place...everyone seemed to know eachother lol...but this random drunk woman came up to us and started to make conversation, so we humored her. Slowly, we began mingling with people, introducing ourselves and stating what organization we were from. Basically, after a few minutes of greeting people, Danielle and i realized we were the ONLY interns there...loooool. Oh well, it was a cool party so we didnt care. (by the end of the party, we stopped saying we were interns and told everyone we were part of the organization's staff) All the women were dressed up and everything was so fancy. Danielle and i decided to take some pictures in the house when no one was looking...this only made us look more young to everyone there...lol
So Elizabeth made a quick speech...and a few other people stood up to talk..while we were all cheering...and then a little bit later, my friend TERRY McAulliffe showed up!!! I have a picture with him in my blog about the Hillary Concession Speech.. Danielle and i were really excited and made it our mission to have a conversation with him...and a conversation with Elizabeth Bagley... we stood next to both of them for a while...and Elizabeth was really rude. She saw us standing to talk to her, and she kinda ignored us to address her other guests...Maybe she was annoyed that we crashed her party, BUT whateverrr, she didnt need to be rude lol... So finally, after we went up to him, Terry actually turned around himself to talk to us :) We were so excited...he asked us what organization we were involved with, where we were from, what we thought of Hillary's speech a few weeks ago...and he introduced us to a few other women in the room. He was such a cool guy. I asked him what he was going to do now, since he can't really be the chairman for Hillary's campaign anymore...and he said he has 5 kids so he's sure he'll be busy...He also asked us if we read his book..and we were both like, uhhhh no.... lol but he didnt care...he told us to read it if we get a chance...and then he called his wife over to meet us... he was like, "Honey, come meet my other girlfriends." Terry's wife was really nice too...she asked us about school and talked to us about DC life. Really nice lady :)
Afterwards, we decided it was time to leave...and we tried to thank Elizabeth, but she was busy talking to other people and she was rude to us again...so we were like, whatever...and we left lol
We sat outside, on one of her neighbors steps for a while, waiting for a cab...but we couldnt find one. Instead, we started taking more pix :)
--if ur wondering who the random guys are, we have no idea...lol we just thought it would be funny to pretend to be paparazzi and snap their pix--
Well, the cab never came...so we decided to walk towards Georgetown. On our way, we spotted a Rainbow :) And of course, we stopped and took pictures lol
We finally made it to Georgetown...and we found La Madeleine. So we HAD to stop for some of their yummy tomato basil soup (thanks for introducing me to this place, Cara!) So ya, we hopped back into a cab and went home..Fun night...we felt like we were kinda crashing the party but oh welllll, it didnt bother us. Can't wait to go to more events like this :)
